Can I be infected with attackware, and what can it do?
This site is dedicated to the study of attackware and the need to strengthen infrastructure security. Attackare is a type of computer worm, Trojan horse, or virus that targets specific systems and has the capability to cause physical damage to machinery and systems by overriding control systems and safety limits. It can also use infected computer systems to create conditions that will cause failure in power plants, critical infrastructure areas, or industrial processes. The danger of a widespread or coordinated attackware deployment should be evident to anyone in business or government. The fact that attackware and other sophisticated computer viruses may be created by governments for a particular purpose means that the need to be vigilant about computer hacking and intrusions is even more of an issue, since it may only take a security lapse in one part of a system to cause a catastrophic failure in an entire process.
